Book
So, now that you’re ready, it’s time to start writing! This page is your key to making your book a success.
To start your writing journey, you will need to find a plot. To do this, you can go to my plot page, or if you’ve already done that, advance to the next tab. However, if you haven’t, don’t advance. The plot is critical. If you have no plot, only some ideas on how you go forth, you will be like me when I first started: Completely uncertain and only acheiving a random path in the plot. Once you have finished your plot, see you there!
Equally important or possibly more important than the plot is the characters. Characters is what I think many people make sequels to old books: Their characters are beloved. The readers love them, and they don’t want them to go, and they want to hear more about them. You must infuse this into your book, too. If the plot is terrific, then the character has to be terrific. I’ve read some books that don’t have great characters, and it’s very obvious that they don’t reach their full potential.
So, now you know the book is not complete without good characters, how do you create them? Well, they must have:
- Some intrigue, like an interesting quirk.
- Even if you don’t fully reveal them in the beginning, (which is fine), by the end you must know something about them.
The first chapter is crucial. Pretend you’re in the reader’s shoes. Chapter 1 is the chapter that will decide
if they wish to read more. If Chapter 1 isn’t intriguing or interesting, they will abandon the book. If you need
some inspiration, the inspiration page is there for you. This applies to nonfiction, too. Whatever subject you’re
covering, you must take the reader’s attention with the first chapter. Example: interesting fact.
Now that you’ve completed Chapter 1, you can relax a little bit for Chapter 2. Build on what you’ve got for Chapter 1. Build on the focus of your book, you can reveal a little bit about your character, and intensify the overall feeling of your book.
