Inspiration
As I said in the my best tips page, inspiration comes in many forms. It can even be copy-pasting your own story and rewriting it.
Here’s a few tips:
- Look at a picture - any picture. It could be a picture of anything.
- Take a look at your surroundings.
- If you want to describe something, you can surf the internet for ideas.
Turn an image into a story
Here’s a few steps to turn an image into a story.
Step 1
Look at the image and look at the details. You can assign a feeling to every object in the image. Write down your ideas.
Step 2
Imagine yourself in the place. What would you smell? What would you hear? And, most importantly what would you feel?
Step 3
Now you need to put all these descriptors into words. Be careful, however, add a bit of action, too.
“Two vibrant and colorful bunnies shared a hug over an equally cute and suprisingly solid chocolate-wrapped heart.”
“The majestic, regal wolf howled to the moon, a deep, sorrowful, full-throated wish, to which the moon responded with only a deep night sky.”
“A cloud of colors thrown together into the heart-lifting sight of beautiful flowers with the shades of a rainbow.”
“In the busy city streets stood out a futuristic building, no doubt made by an especially skilled architect.”
Here’s a little more short example of inspiration for you.

As I’ve said before in this website, a good list of your favorite words serves as excellent inspiration. It may even make you want to write, even if you were not thinking about it before. Whatever it is, I think a list of your favorite words is always a good idea. You can click below to see my own list of favorite words.
Despite all the images I’ve given to you for inspiration, images aren’t the only thing for inspiration. It could be a odd sound, an atrocious smell, even a bizzare taste. It could be anything!
